DEADLINE: The Asian Carp Institute for Journalism & Natural Resources

Journalists chosen for the September 21-24, 2011, program fellowships will travel in vessels from the electronic barrier all the way to the mouth of the Chicago River to explore and examine the historical, scientific, economic, legal and political dimensions of the Asian carp issue. Apply by August 19th.

DEADLINE: Kyoto Prize Journalism Fellowship

One U.S. journalist will be selected to travel to San Diego in March 2019 to attend the annual Kyoto Prize presentation ceremony, laureate lectures and workshops. The fellow will have opportunities to interview the latest Kyoto Prize laureates to further their knowledge and depth of reporting in technology, science and the arts. Application deadline is February 28.

DEADLINE: The John Alexander Project's Above the Fray Fellowship

This 5-6 month fellowship is for radio journalists with 5-7 years' experience. Pitch an under-reported story from anywhere in the world. You'll spend about two months in the field, with additional time prepping and editing at NPR in Washington, DC. Apply by Jul 1, 2023.

DEADLINE: OWAA 2nd Annual Goldenrod Writing Workshop

Open to both novice communicators and published professionals, the Outdoor Writers Association of America workshop (Jul 31-Aug 6, 2011) in Missoula, MT is designed to improve skills in outdoor, nature and environmental writing. Call for Applications! Based at USC's Annenberg School of Journalism, The California Endowment Health Journalism Fellowships offer professional journalists this opportunity to apply for an all-expenses-paid mini fellowship with $2,000-$10,000 reporting grant. Grantees spend the week of July 24 - 29, 2011 in Los Angeles. Students are ineligible. Apply by May 2, 2011.

The Institutes for Journalism & Natural Resources will select 14 journalists for this expenses-paid learning expedition, July 8-16, 2011. Explore the Puget Sound estuary and its surrounding shores and uplands, including Hood Canal, the Duwamish Waterway and the Port of Tacoma, as well as fisheries, wetlands and farms along the Skagit River delta.
