Meet SEJ member David Boraks! David covers the environment, energy, development, housing and other topics for WFAE, the NPR affiliate in Charlotte, NC. A lifelong journalist, he has managed newsrooms and covered everything from community news to Wall Street banking to the arts to sports. Honors have included: 1997 Telecommunications Fellow at the Knight Center for Specialized Journalism at the University of Maryland, a 1998 award as the top technology journalist in North Carolina, the 2009 Algernon Sydney Sullivan community service award at Davidson College and 2011 Honorable Mention in the SBA/Lake Norman Chamber Small Business of the Year Awards. He also was on teams at WFAE that won regional Edward R. Murrow Awards in 2009, 2016 and 2019.

David joined us in 2016 and recommends membership because, "SEJ helps me follow topics and trends in our field, connect with other reporters and sources, and find education and training opportunities related to my beat."
