The Pulitzer Prize-winning news organization InsideClimate News' summer journalism program is for high school students and recent grads to explore the nation's most pressing environmental concerns, Jul 5-17, 2020, through ambitious journalism immersed in the rugged coast of Maine at the College of the Atlantic. The Alfred Wegener Institute invites proposals from media professionals to spend six weeks aboard a Russian icebreaker reporting on a climate research mission in the Arctic, mid-September to late October 2019. Apply by Mar 15.

This one-year fellowship, honoring the pioneering African-American activist and investigative reporter, promotes diversity in journalism by helping to create a pipeline of investigative reporters of color who bring diverse backgrounds, experiences, and interests to their work. Fellows receive $25,000, travel and other costs, editorial guidance from a dedicated editor at Type Investigations and more. Deadline is Mar 12, 2023.

The Native American Journalists Association and NBCUniversal are partnering to give NAJA member-students real world experience and exposure to one of the world’s leading news divisions as a paid summer 2023 intern.  Deadline to apply is Feb 10.

The Institute for Journalism & Natural Resources invites journalists on an expenses-paid learning expedition down the Lower Mississippi to get a first-hand look at some of the stories along its shores, April 24-May 1, 2019, visiting small river towns to large global ports as we travel from St. Louis to New Orleans. InsideClimate News, the Pulitzer Prize-winning national nonprofit newsroom, will hold a free, two-day training for about ~12 winning applicants from March 7-8, 2019 in Nashville, Tennessee. The workshop will be focused on business journalism and center on covering the clean-energy economy in the Midwest. Deadline is Feb 1.
