TOOLBOX: EPA Environmental Impact Statement Database

If you are hunting stories — or useful background for a story under way — you may find a useful tool in the Environmental Impact Statement database maintained by EPA. It is online and searchable, and includes some 4,522 EIS's filed since January 2004. It also includes EPA comment letters on the EIS's.

The landmark National Environmental Protection Act of 1970 requires federal agencies to file environmental impact statements before deciding on major actions.
