GOPers Attack EPA's Jackson for Alias E-Mail Account

November 28, 2012

EPA Administrator Lisa P. Jackson gets some 1.5 million e-mails a year at her official, and publicized, address on the EPA e-mail system. Going back to the Bush administration, EPA administrators have used a more private e-mail address for the mail they really need to read.

Now GOP congressmen and conservative media are mounting criticism of Jackson's use of an e-mail account using her dog's name, claiming it's an effort to hide agency business. Agency officials maintain the practice is innocent. And it may be moot as well, if Jackson leaves the agency after completing a four-year term.

But it also raises issues about open government.
