"Most Endangered Rivers" List To Be Released April 7

April 1, 2009

The conservation group American Rivers will release its annual "Most Endangered Rivers" list on Tuesday, April 7, 2009. Each year, the group publishes a list of rivers endangered by dams, pollution, mining projects, and other threats they believe require urgent action.

The report and press materials are available to journalists who agree to strict rules of embargo.

River protection made news March 30 when President Obama signed an omnibus conservation bill containing the second largest Wild and Scenic Rivers package in history, protecting 86 rivers, totaling some 1,100 miles, in eight states (AZ, CA, ID, MA, OR, UT, VT, WY).
