Interior Dept. FOIA Logs Published Online

October 31, 2007

Thanks to some citizen watchdogs, you can find out who has been making FOIA requests for what information at several Interior Department agencies. With a little sleuthing, this information can lead to stories - or tell you what stories your journalistic competition may be working on.

The group Governmentattic.org has published on its Website the FOIA request logs for the Interior Department's Office of Surface Mining, U.S. Geological Survey, Bureau of Land Management, and Minerals Management Service through Oct. 2007.

While you're there, you may want to look at FOIA logs from the USDA's Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service, Inspector General's Office, or Food and Nutrition Service.

You can see the logs here.
