March 28, 2024

Journalists, fact-checkers and students from across the world will stop what they are doing every Thursday in March to focus on a big and pressing challenge: How to disseminate reliable, trustworthy content in innovative ways that outpace misinformation?

Expert trainers will lead 2-hour virtual training sessions for participants as part of the International Center for Journalists' second annual Empowering the Truth Global Summit. Sessions will be held in Arabic, Bahasa Indonesia, English, French, Portuguese, Russian and Spanish on the following topics:

March 7, 11am EST: Building networks and alliances
Laura Zommer, Cofounder and CEO, Factchequeado and ICFJ Knight Fellow

March 14, 11am EST: Reaching critical audiences
Hannah Ajakaiye, Director, FactsMatterNG

March 21, 11am EST: Strengthening audience trust
Lynn Walsh, Assistant Director, Trusting News

March 28, 11am EST: Leveraging AI
Nikita Roy, ICFJ Knight Fellow and Founder, NRI Nation

The summit kicks off in March with each language hosting one session per week.

Following the summit, participants who attend at least three of the four sessions will be eligible to apply for grants and mentorship to develop innovative multimedia projects that break new ground in spreading factual information.

The trainings are being held through ICFJ’s Pamela Howard Forum on Global Crisis Reporting, with support from the Forum's community managers and additional coordination from BoomLive, Harry Surjadi, and Marina Chentsova Eckman.
