DEADLINE: SPJ Mark of Excellence Awards

Annually, the Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ) presents the Mark of Excellence Awards, honoring the best in student journalism.

Most categories are first judged on the regional level. First-place regional winners advance to the national competition, and most are recognized at their respective regional SPJ conference in 2024. National winners will be showcased on spj.org.

The categories include print/online, art/graphics/multimedia, audio and television.

The contest is open to US. and international students studying toward an academic degree enrolled in a U.S. or international college or university in 2024.

In addition to physical awards and recognition, two awards carry cash prizes. The Corbin Gwaltney Award for Best Student Newspaper, large and small divisions, each is accompanied by a $5,000 prize courtesy of the Chronicle of Higher Education.

Deadlines: Dec 31, 2024 (earlybird); ~~Feb 4, 2025~~ extended to Feb 11 (final).
