ICFJ Webinar: Mathematics Professors Meet Crisis Reporters

Event Date:
July 27, 2023

For the last session of our Mathematics Reporting Series organized by the International Center for Journalists (ICFJ) Pamela Howard Forum on Global Crisis Reporting, journalists will be interacting with two mathematics professors to better understand one another, and to see how they can work together.

This upcoming session is designed specifically for crisis reporters, journalists and writers interested in delving into the fascinating world of mathematics. We are delighted to have Ian Griffiths, professor of industrial mathematics at the University of Oxford, and Alexandria Volkening, assistant professor of mathematics at Purdue University, join us.

There are a number of things we will be aiming for during the session. They include creating an opportunity for journalists to interact freely with the mathematics researchers, understanding how to talk to mathematics researchers about their work, gaining tips on story ideas worth exploring, and lots more.

It will also be the official commencement of the submission entries for our mathematics reporting grant.
