Meet SEJ member and volunteer Breanna Draxler! Breanna is an award-winning journalist with 10 years of experience editing, reporting and writing for national magazines and online outlets. She is currently a senior editor at YES! Magazine where she manages coverage of climate, environment and Native rights. Breanna is based in unceded Duwamish territory now known as Seattle, and has worked in newsrooms on both coasts and in between. Her previous positions include editing and reporting for National Geographic, Grist, bioGraphic, Popular Science and Discover Magazine. She contributed to Audubon Magazine's climate action guide, which won a National Magazine Award in 2020. Breanna recently served as a board member for the Society of Environmental Journalists and the Northwest Science Writers Association, and she has a master's degree in environmental journalism from the University of Colorado Boulder.

Breanna volunteers because "So many of our work hours as journalists today are spent alone in front of a screen. I want to be a part of building this community that supports people's well-being and connects them to colleagues so they can thrive and continue to tell critical stories," she said.
