"House Passes Public Lands Bill Seen As A Win For Conservation"

"WASHINGTON -- The House of Representatives Tuesday overwhelmingly passed legislation aimed at safeguarding nearly 2 million acres of public lands and permanently continuing a federal fund that supports conservation projects around the country.

The bill now goes to President Donald Trump for his signature.

The Land and Water Conservation Fund, a program that uses revenue from offshore oil and natural gas drilling to support the conservation projects, has lapsed several times in its 50-year history."

Julianna Rennie reports for McClatchy Washington Bureau February 26, 2019.
