"New York is creating a gasoline reserve to prevent shortages during disasters, Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo’s office announced in a news release on Saturday."
"The reserve is expected to hold three million gallons of fuel, Mr. Cuomo’s office said, and it would be the first state gasoline reserve in the nation.
The pilot program, which will cost $10 million, was started in response to gasoline disruptions during Hurricane Sandy last year. The gas shortage caused long lines at gas stations across the region and left emergency responders without enough fuel."
