"President-elect Donald Trump appears “very sympathetic” to requests to issue an executive order reversing many of President Joe Biden’s energy policies in Alaska, Sen. Dan Sullivan (R-Alaska) said in an interview Thursday, a move with sweeping implications for oil and gas drilling on millions of acres of federal lands in the state.
During a meeting with Senate Republicans in the U.S. Capitol on Wednesday night, Trump seemed “very aligned” with the requests from Alaska Gov. Mike Dunleavy (R) and other state politicians, Sullivan said, adding that he also raised the issue Wednesday with Trump’s pick for interior secretary and “energy czar,” former North Dakota governor Doug Burgum.
“Federal law says the National Petroleum Reserve-Alaska should be developed for oil and gas,” he said. “Biden comes in and says, ‘No, we’re going to shut it all down.’ ... So we’re going to keep pressing, but we have a very sympathetic incoming interior secretary and, even more important, incoming president.”"
