"First Offshore Wind Farm Completed"

"PROVIDENCE -- Construction of the first offshore wind farm in the nation is complete.

Crews working for Providence-based developer Deepwater Wind mounted the final blade on the fifth turbine of the Block Island Wind Farm just after 4 p.m. on Thursday.

Deepwater has been building the demonstration wind farm in waters about three miles southeast of Block Island since last year. Steel foundations went in first over a four-month period from July to November 2015 and over the past two and a half weeks the General Electric-made turbines were assembled on top of them."

Alex Kuffner reports for the Providence Journal August 18, 2016.
