"Chefs Push Lawmakers on Labeling Genetically Modified Food"

"Some of the best-known chefs in the country are leaving the kitchen this week and heading to Capitol Hill to press for mandatory labels on genetically modified food.

The fight over genetically modified labels has pit food companies against organic farmers and consumers groups. Now, some of the most recognizable names in U.S. cuisine are throwing their weight behind the growing effort to mandate labels nationwide.

'I think people trust chefs when it comes to food – when talking about food and the food supply,' said Tom Colicchio, a judge on the reality TV show 'Top Chef' and founder of Craft restaurants."
