"Car Rules: Trump Admin Failed To Consult States About Rollback — AGs"

"The Trump administration failed to consult dozens of state officials about the rollback of Obama-era clean car rules, according to a new letter from 12 Democratic attorneys general.

Under Executive Order 13132, a Clinton-era directive, federal agencies are required to consult state officials when proposing to preempt a state law.

But according to the letter from the attorneys general, the Trump administration failed to engage with state officials about the rollback, which would preempt California from setting tougher tailpipe pollution rules than the federal government."
