The Investigative Journalism for Europe's annual award celebrates the best of European cross-border investigative journalism. Three cash prizes of €5,000 are available for investigative teams that have pushed the boundaries in tackling transnational stories of public interest. Deadline: Apr 27, 2025.

This Council for the Advancement of Science Writing award honors the late science journalist Sharon Begley (pictured, left) by recognizing and supporting journalists who exemplify excellence in covering science for the public. The NED annually makes more than 2,000 grants to support the projects of nongovernmental groups abroad who are working to advance democratic goals and strengthen democratic institutions in more than 100 countries, including those that "Support freedom of information and independent media." Journalismfund.eu's Earth Investigations Programme will award €84,000 for projects on collective development and support services for environmental investigative journalism in Europe. Incorporated legal entities worldwide can apply. Next deadline: May 22, 2025.

This program will provide up to eight photographers with a $7,000 grant to work on their projects in their Arab country of residence over a period of 10 months. The grant may be used to begin a new project or to complete work on an existing project. Apply by Jun 13, 2025.

The Comedy Wildlife Photographer of the Year wins a one-week safari in Kenya and more. Other prizes include NIKON camera kits, camera bags, a specialist website and an iPad. Nine categories include one for video, one for under 16 and one for under 25. Free to enter. Enter by Jun 30, 2025.

The Evert Clark/Seth Payne Award recognizes outstanding reporting and writing in any field of science by science writers age 30 or younger. Winner will receive $1,000 and expenses to attend the annual ScienceWriters meeting. Deadline: June 30 annually.
