TOM HENRY
I’d love to be part of SEJ’s leadership again.
Some of you know me as SEJournal’s longtime book editor. I’ve also served on the magazine’s board of directors for a decade now, and have served many times as a contest judge.
Some of you know me from one of the many tours and panels I’ve done on topics such as nuclear power, toxic algae, desalination, bioterrorism, water quality and invasive species.
Do I love fundraising? No. I doubt you do, either. But when I was on SEJ’s board of directors a few years ago, I stepped up and helped SEJ receive a $50,000 grant from the Chicago-based Joyce Foundation. The foundation’s familiarity with my work helped. I explained to foundation executives what SEJ meant to me and my career, and got the ball rolling.
We obviously face a lot of new challenges now with COVID-19 and with whatever direction our nation — and our profession — go after the Nov. 3 election.
I’d like to do my part to help SEJ, if you’ll allow me.
I’d appreciate your vote.
