"It's easy to feel isolated as a freelancer in Canada. But after joining my fellow reporters in Colorado, I now feel part of a community, inspired and ready to tackle this job."
— Lauren Kaljur, Freelance Journalist
December 27, 2019 — I've been a follower of the Society of Environmental Journalists for some time, and had heard great things about the annual SEJ conference from other reporters. But my first time — #SEJ2019 in Fort Collins, Colorado — blew me away.
The sheer scale, the level of organization, the thought put into presentations and panels, the diversity of issues addressed, opportunities to network, the field trips...wow! I hesitate to even call it a conference.
I can see how much effort and dedication was put into it, and how much the SEJ community has helped journalists like me over the years.
It's easy to feel isolated as a freelancer in Canada. But after joining my fellow reporters in Colorado, I now feel part of a community, inspired and ready to tackle this job.
With your support, SEJ can continue to offer fellowships so that more freelancers like me have the opportunity to be inspired by the SEJ community. Please give generously.
Thank you!
