"BRASILIA -- The National Mining Agency (ANM) decided to ban a series of dams throughout the country because of problems of stability in its operations, the Brazilian Agency announced Tuesday.
According to the source, the regulatory agency initially reported that 67 dams would be closed, but then indicated it would review the number.
The ANM explained the interdictions were caused by the absence of documentation or because the information submitted by the companies indicated a lack of stability of reservoirs in their capacity to develop and organize their activities with their respective risks."
