"Booker's Green New Deal: Racial Justice And 2 Climate Bills"

"Sen. Cory Booker has a green new way for dealing with his critics.

Booker (D-N.J.), a potential candidate for president, is betting that a heavy emphasis on environmental justice will resonate with primary voters. It comes as the Democratic Party is taking climate change more seriously than ever. Yet some quarters of the left bristle at parts of Booker's record.

Booker has endorsed the most ambitious goal of climate activists, the "Green New Deal." He can point to green initiatives from his time as Newark, N.J., mayor. And he's crafted a landmark environmental justice bill, getting the support of many would-be rivals for the 2020 Democratic presidential nomination."
