Terri Hansen
Reporting from Copenhagen Dec. 10-15 Native American & Indigenous delegations: their declarations, issues, concerns, i.e. negative impacts of REDD to forest dwellers; indigenous testimony of climate change-induced disasters on indigenous homelands (the Maldives, the Arctic quickly come to mind). Indigenous peoples are experiencing the earliest disruptions yet they have no legal standing at the talks. In addition to regular reporting for Indian Country Today I'm open to worthy mainstream publications with an interest in indigenous climate issues, from a Native American journalist. A concern is to make my trip worth the carbon it's costing. In that spirit (and because I'm fully funded) I'm not looking for high pay rates so much as giving more of a voice to the voiceless. I'm attending Klimaforum09, the Earth Journalism Awards, and the exhibits, testimonies and ceremonies Indigenous Day, Dec. 12. I have access to Native American, and Indigenous leaders, Indigenous youth, and NGOs that work with Indigenous groups. Contact Terri: terri@terrihansen.com

I recently completed my M.S. degree in Natural Resources with a concentration in Environmental Policy and Communication. My studies focused on the role of agriculture and forestry in climate change, as well as the effects of climate change on the Arctic. Contact Laura: lakiesel@gmail.com
