DEADLINE: Korva Coleman Excellence Awards

Event Date:
January 31, 2018
SPOT 127 is now accepting entries for the 2018 Korva Coleman Excellence Awards! This national award recognizes outstanding digital media produced by high school and undergraduate students ages 14-23. Winners receive a $1,000 scholarship, an engraved award and a trip to Phoenix to meet NPR's Korva Coleman at the awards ceremony on April 6, 2018.

We invite your students to submit digital journalism pieces in the categories of audio, video and multimedia storytelling. The deadline for entries is January 31, and there is no entry fee. All entries must have been published online in the previous calendar year. Entries can be submitted online here, or visit spot127.org for more information.

SPOT 127 is the youth media center of KJZZ 91.5 FM, the NPR affiliate in Phoenix. We are an educational outreach program that provides low-income and at-risk teenagers with mentoring and instruction in multimedia production. We established the Korva Coleman Excellence Awards in 2013 in honor of Coleman, a newscaster at NPR who grew up in the Maryvale neighborhood where our center is located.
