DEADLINE: Arthur F. Burns Fellowship

Event Date:
March 1, 2025

Each year, outstanding media professionals from the United States, Canada and Germany are awarded an opportunity to report from and travel in each other's countries as part of the International Center for Journalists'  Arthur F. Burns Fellowship Program. The program offers young journalists, age 21-40, the opportunity to share professional expertise with their colleagues across the Atlantic while working as "foreign correspondents" for their hometown news organizations.

Open to U.S., Canadian and German journalists who are employed by a newspaper, news magazine, broadcast station, news agency, or who work as freelance and/or online reporters. Applicants must have demonstrated journalistic talent and a strong interest in North American-European affairs. German language proficiency is not required, but it is encouraged. For North American fellows, a cash stipend covers living expenses during the two-month fellowship in Germany. Participants receive cash for travel expenses (or travel vouchers for transatlantic flights), and the program also pays living expenses during the orientation in Washington, D.C.

Program Dates: 7/28/2025 - 9/30/2025

Deadline: Mar 1, 2025
