"With Senate opponents gearing up to try to kill the Obama administration's now-final "Waters of the United States" rule this summer, an environmental group is launching an ad campaign urging public support for the rule.
The League of Conservation Voters today announced a $300,000 ad buy in support of the rule. The new ad will premiere on this Sunday's talk shows in the Washington, D.C., market and will then run for a week on national cable, the group said.
'We know that polluters and their allies in Congress are coming out swinging against these vital clean water safeguards,' Gene Karpinski, the group's president, said in a statement. 'But with overwhelming public support for the Clean Water Rule, this ad campaign is a message to Congress that their priority needs to be protecting the drinking water of 117 million Americans.'"
