DEADLINE: Aronson Awards for Social Justice Journalism
2020 Aronson Awards Suspended
For health and safety considerations, CUNY has suspended all on-campus classes for the remainder of the spring semester and further disruptions can be anticipated. We look forward to resuming the Aronson Awards and will keep you posted.
The Aronson Awards for Social Justice Journalism annually honor original, written English-language reporting from the U.S. media that brings to light widespread injustices, their human consequences, underlying causes, and possible reforms. This includes but is not limited to: discrimination, exploitation, violations of human rights or civil liberties, and environmental degradation.
The Award is administered by the Hunter College Department of Film & Media Studies and an Awards Committee of journalists and media critics. The Award is presented each spring at Hunter College of the City University of New York.
Stories should have appeared in U.S. newspapers, magazines, newsletters or Internet publications between Jan. 1 and Dec. 31 of the year prior to the contest. The Aronson Awards also include a companion Cartooning with a Conscience award. Entry fees apply. Deadline: March 18, 2019.
