"Stubborn Fire At BP's Texas City Refinery Out"

"TEXAS CITY — A fire at BP's Texas City refinery sent a large plume of black smoke over the industrial sector of the city. The fire broke out at about 1:30 p.m. and was out by 3:05 p.m., BP officials said."

"Texas City Homeland Security Coordinator Bruce Clawson said he is monitoring the situation. While he doesn't expect the event to have a significant impact on the city, the fire is proving stubborn for BP fire crews, he said.

While the blackness of the smoke dissipated, a low hanging cloud of smoke covered much of the city. Clawson said a heavy 'bottom' crude is burning. There are no reports of injuries."
