"Senate: Tom Udall Won't Run For Re-Election"

"New Mexico Democratic Sen. Tom Udall won't run for re-election next year, putting an end to what will be 12 years in the Senate.

Udall, 70, has played a key role in pushing for EPA and Interior Department funding, serving since 2015 as the top Democrat in the Senate Appropriations panel that oversees those agencies.

"The worst thing anyone in public office can do is believe the office belongs to them, rather than to the people they represent," Udall said in a post today on the website Medium."
