"President Obama is tapping Brian Deese, the deputy director of his budget office, to replace veteran aide John Podesta when he departs the White House next month.
Deese, 36, has worked for Obama since the 2008 presidential campaign and had a high-profile role crafting the bailout of the auto industry. Before his stint at the Office of Management and Budget — which included a turn as acting director before the confirmation of Shaun Donovan — he worked as an adviser on the National Economic Council.
'Deese will be part of the core White House strategic team, focusing specifically on bridging the intersection of policy, politics and legislative strategy going forward,' a White House official said."
