"Interior: Former Hill Aide Is Picked For Press Secretary"

"The Interior Department has a new press secretary, with the elevation of Faith Vander Voort to the high-speed, high-profile post this week.

A 23-year-old former congressional staffer who has been the department's deputy press secretary for the past year, Vander Voort was promoted Monday by acting Interior Secretary David Bernhardt. She replaces Heather Swift, who moved several months ago to a senior adviser position.

"I am honored to serve the president and acting Secretary Bernhardt in this new capacity," Vander Voort told E&E News in a statement.

The promotion puts Vander Voort in the public forefront of Interior's Office of Communications, which had a budget last year of about $1.4 million. It's a juggling job, promoting administration positions and sometimes corralling bureaus while answering or fending off criticisms."
