"EPA Updates Freedom of Information Act Rule With Focus on Equity"

"The EPA has updated Freedom of Information Act regulations with its Phase II FOIA final rule, according to a Thursday news release.

The final rule aims to promote transparency and accountability, make FOIA more affordable, and expedite access to information to communities affected disproportionately to adverse human health or environmental effects, the agency said.

The rule establishes a new standard for an expedited EPA response and will waive the fees involved in those situations and also raises the threshold for issuing fees, according to the EPA."

Bloomberg Law Automation had the story September 7, 2023.
