"A self-described whistleblower filed a lawsuit against DuPont chemical company Tuesday in the Harris County District Court, alleging she was terminated from the company's La Porte plant because of her incessant reports of safety violations.
Barbara Acker worked as a lab technician at the chemical plant from January 2007 to October 17, 2014 – less than one month before four other employees died in a chemical leak largely blamed on negligent safety practices.
According to the lawsuit, Acker was 'forced to quit' by company leadership, for reasons described as 'a pretext to cover up for matters protected by the Texas Whistleblower Act.'"
