"The Department of Energy has agreed to pay $200,000 to settle a lawsuit filed by a department attorney who says she was retaliated against for wanting to share with co-workers why Native Americans like herself find the name of Washington's football team offensive.
Jody TallBear, chief of DOE's civil rights division, says that when she began discussing the team's name, Redskins, and other Native American stereotypes, DOE brass tried to stifle her and moved her out of a job she loved.
DOE agreed March 5 to settle a civil rights lawsuit that TallBear filed in 2017, claiming a hostile work environment that included 'widespread use' of the word 'Redskins.'"
