SEJ Webinar: Covering Climate, COVID-19 and Environmental Justice

Event Date:
July 8, 2020

Video recording and chat log

At this moment of reckoning — with COVID-19, climate change and racial inequality — it has never been more clear that ensuring a safe environment for all requires recognizing that this inequity increases people's vulnerability to climate change, disease and disaster.

Through reporting on environmental injustice, journalists can help the public understand these linkages and share the experiences of under-represented communities with a wider audience. At the same time, the news industry is beginning to reckon with its own history of structural inequality and ongoing racism within the newsroom, which have helped to marginalize the concept of environmental justice and the reporters who cover it.

Join the Society of Environmental Journalists on Wednesday, July 8 from 1:00-2:00 p.m. ET, for an #SEJ2020 webinar with environmental reporters and storytellers who will discuss their experiences covering climate, COVID-19 and environmental justice.

All journalists welcome.
