DEADLINE: SAJA Reporting Fellowships

Event Date:
March 29, 2020

Since 2005, the South Asian Journalists Association's reporting fellowships program encourages in-depth coverage of South Asia or the South Asian Diasapora by providing grants to cover a portion of reporting expenses. The program is aimed at promoting a rare element in 24/7-news-cycle journalism, namely, in-depth and follow-up reporting on major events relating to South Asia or South Asians, long after the breaking-news crews have moved on.

Up to $20,000 will be given out annually, divided among projects or a single project at SAJA's discretion. Each fellowship award is typically between $2,000-$5,000. Open to freelancers and staff journalists in any medium; must have demonstrated experience in producing in-depth and long-form projects. Deadline: Mar 15, 2020 extended to Mar 29 (Spring/Summer).
