DEADLINE: European Journalism Fellowships

Event Date:
May 15, 2024

Since 1999, several European Journalism-Fellowships are awarded annually to conduct research at the International Center for Journalism of the Freie Universitaet Berlin (Free University of Berlin). The programme enables participants to network with professional colleagues from Eastern and Western Europe and the United States and provide them with the opportunity to take a two-semester leave from their professional positions and spend a sabbatical year at the Freie Universität widening their knowledge while pursuing their research project. Highly qualified journalists in either staff positions or freelance employment with several years of professional experience, not currently residing in Berlin, are eligible to apply. German language proficiency is required.

The European Journalism Fellowships are part of the Institute of Journalism and Communication Studies at the Free University of Berlin.

Cooperation with the European Journalism Observatory (EJO): This EJO fellowship at the EJF (sponsor: Stiftung Presse-Haus NRZ) has a topic-specific focus: It is designed to observe current developments in journalism research in Germany and the rapidly changing landscape of journalism and media in Berlin.

Journalists from Eastern and Western Europe, the Arab world and the USA are eligible to apply. Public relations professionals, journalism academics and journalism lecturers can also apply.

Deadline: May 15, 2024.
