DEADLINE: Big Sky Documentary Film Festival
Big Sky Documentary Film Festival is seeking submissions for its 19th annual event, February 18-27, 2022.
Programming over 90% of selections from the open call, Big Sky presents over 150 films from around the world to an audience of over 20,000 in Missoula, Montana and to online viewers across the globe. Featuring a variety of public screenings, the 4th World Indigenous Media Lab, youth programs, VIP parties and industry events, BSDFF is an ideal setting for filmmakers to premiere new work and develop lasting relationships with fellow filmmakers and industry.
The competitive event is open to non-fiction films of all forms, lengths, subject matters and genres. Awards and cash prizes will be given in multiple categories.

Big Sky is the largest documentary film festival in the western United States, showcasing a broad range of World, International, U.S. and Northwest premieres. Selected for a 5th year running on MovieMaker Magazine's list of "50 Festivals Worth the Entry Fee," Big Sky is an Oscar-qualifying event for short documentaries in two categories and hosts over 200 visiting artists during a 10-day festival. A competitive event, Big Sky offers cash awards for Best Feature, Best Short, Best Mini-Doc and the Big Sky Award to a film that artistically honors the character, history and tradition of the American West. In addition to screenings, Big Sky hosts the DocShop Filmmaker's Forum, a 5-day industry conference featuring ideas and trends shaping the field of documentary filmmaking, culminating with the Big Sky Pitch for works-in-progress.
