Climate and Concern: COP26 and Global Public Opinion

As the UN General Assembly convenes for its 76th session and policymakers worldwide look ahead to November’s COP26 summit in Glasgow, public concern about the planet’s changing climate is increasing amid reports of record high temperatures, once-in-a-century flooding and other cases of extreme weather and the growing potential for even worse disruptions to human life in the years ahead.

Join the Pew Research Center and a panel of distinguished experts on the opening day of the UN General Assembly as we explore new international polling data on global views of climate change and confidence in the international community to address it.

The session will feature a presentation of the public opinion data by Jacob Poushter, Associate Director of Global Attitudes Research, Pew Research Center, followed by analysis and commentary from Nick Bridge, Special Representative for Climate Change, UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office and Helen Mountford, Vice President for Climate and Economics, World Resources Institute. Audience Q&A will follow. James Bell, Vice President for Global Strategy, Pew Research Center will moderate.
