Canadian Science in Crisis: Research, Responsibility and the Right to Speak

On June 6, 2013, Canadian Journalists for Free Expression (CJFE) presents “Canadian Science in Crisis: Research, Responsibility and the Right to Speak” featuring renowned Canadian climatologist Dr. Gordon McBean in conversation with journalist Anna Maria Tremonti.

The interview will look at the importance of free expression to the scientific field and what happens to scientific endeavours when the right to free expression is restricted.

The public event directly follows the CJFE's annual general meeting (members only).

  • Gordon McBean, co-winner of the 2007 Nobel Peace prize, Chair, Canadian Climate Forum and President-elect of the International Council for Science                        
  • Interviewed by: Anna Maria Tremonti, host of CBC’s “The Current”

WHEN: Thursday, June 6, 2013. Doors open to the public at 7:30 p.m. Program begins at 8:00 p.m. 

WHERE: NOW Lounge, 189 Church Street, Toronto

CJFE will be filming the event, and will post the footage to their website www.cjfe.org the following day. They’ll also be publishing a summary of the discussion to their blog.
