June 8: World Oceans Day Brings Focus on Gulf Oil Spill [13]

Unidentified Wetlands Owners in 22 States Get USDA Funds [25]

About 75,000 acres of wetlands in 22 states and Puerto Rico will split $175 million of Natural Resources Conservation Service's Wetlands Reserve Program funding, but recipient properties or owners will not be identified.

Feds Have Sent Nearly $650 Million to Private Forest Owners [36]

The USFS Forest Legacy Program has awarded a total of $72 million to 36 property owners in 33 states and territories to apply conservation easements to their land, with the goal of preventing development or other uses of the land that would reduce its forest value.
