Rains Flood New Orleans as Pumps Fail [1]

"New Orleans is under a state of emergency Thursday (Aug. 10) as officials work to bring back online a turbine that supplies power to the city's drainage pump system in the face of expected thunderstorms. It's the latest headline in a weekend of miscommunications from city officials after severe flooding seeped into thousands of homes, business and cars over the weekend."

CA Water Districts Sue Feds for $1.4 Billion To Clean Drinking Supply [27]

Groups To Sue DuPont and Chemours for Contaminating NC Drinking Water [30]

"In the past two weeks, two citizens groups in North Carolina announced plans to sue Chemours, the DuPont spin-off company that now makes GenX, over its release of the chemical from its plant in Fayetteville, North Carolina. The Cape Fear Public Utility Authority issued a letter of intent to sue both Chemours and DuPont last week over violations of the Clean Water Act and the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act by releasing GenX into the Cape Fear River, which is a source of drinking water for more than 250,000 people in the Wilmington area."
