"Savannah River Site Authorized To Close Nuclear Waste Storage Tanks" [1]

"Savannah River Site will permanently seal in place more Cold War-era storage tanks after removing highly radioactive liquid nuclear waste.

U.S. Energy Secretary Ernest Moniz gave the South Carolina site approval to close underground storage tanks in the H-area “tank farm.”

The order is part of cleanup efforts at the site which produced materials for nuclear weapons during the Cold War."

Meg Mirshak reports for the Augusta Chronicle December 23, 2014. [2]
