"Investigation Begins Into 4 Workers Deaths At La Porte Plant" [1]

"As eastside families mourn the deaths of four workers at DuPont's La Porte chemical plant in a toxic gas release early Saturday morning, federal investigators are gathering to begin probing for answers.

A seven-member team from the Chemical Safety Board, an independent federal agency charged with examining industrial chemical accidents resulting in death, serious injury or substantial property damage, began arriving in the area Sunday.

The agency's managing director, Daniel Horowitz, said the team will begin by meeting with those involved, interviewing eyewitnesses, examining the plant, and gathering all available evidence for testing and review. He said the agency already has filed an extensive request for documents with DuPont."

Craig Hlavaty, Anita Hassan, and Mike Morris report for the Houston Chronicle November 15, 2014. [2]
