"Hydrofracking: It Has Polarized Voters and May Decide the Election" [1]

"BINGHAMTON -- Broome County Executive Debbie Preston has been a consistent supporter of natural gas drilling in the Southern Tier, but challenger Tarik Abdelazim speaks passionately against hydrofracking until more studies are done."

"Assemblywoman Donna Lupardo, D-Endwell, who has taken a cautionary stance, is opposed by Republican Julie Lewis, one of the leaders of the Joint Landowners Coalition of New York.

Incumbent U.S. Rep. Richard Hanna, R-Barneveld, is wary of hydrofracking -- but not as much as Democratic challenger Dan Lamb.

New York's four-year debate over natural gas drilling has reached an apparent crescendo just in time for election season, opening what may be the most well-defined rift between candidates running for some prominent local, state and federal offices representing Broome County."

Steve Reilly reports for the Binghamton Press & Sun-Bulletin September 29, 2012. [2]
