EPA's Inspector General Probes Coal-Ash Recycling Partnership [1]

"The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Office of Inspector General has decided to review the appropriateness of the EPA's program to promote 'beneficial uses' of coal combustion waste with the industries it regulates.

That program includes participation from Louisville based E.On US, parent of LG&E and Kentucky Utilities, and the University of Kentucky's Center for Applied Energy Research.

EPA OIG spokesman John Manibusan confirmed this morning that the internal review is a spin-off of another OIG report into EPA's handling of a report that examined the risks of living near coal ash facilities that kept secret for many years. The inspector general found no coverup...."
