"After 9-Month Delay, Record-Breaking Solar Plane Prepares For Liftoff" [1]

"A solar-powered plane called the Solar Impulse 2 is preparing to resume its flight around the world after nine months on the ground for repairs.

The team's goal: to be the first plane to circumnavigate the globe using only solar power.

NPR's Geoff Brumfiel [reports] that the plane is getting ready for liftoff in Hawaii. ... 'The plane ... is waiting for the right weather conditions before it takes off. Solar Impulse has been grounded since July after a five-day, nonstop flight from Japan to Hawaii fried its batteries, which it needs to fly during the nighttime. The Swiss-based team who built the plane made repairs over the winter.'"

Merrit Kennedy reports for NPR April 14, 2016. [2]
