Environmental Storytelling and the Future of Clean Water

On Thursday, Oct. 5, 2023 at 6 pm CT/5 pm ET, SEJ board member Sara Shipley Hiles is leading the Smith/Patterson Science Journalism Lecture. Filmmakers Duy Lin Tu [1] and Sebastian Tuinder [2] will speak about their project, “Poisoning the Chesapeake [3],” which examines how the Chesapeake Bay is being choked by nitrogen and phosphorus from urban and agricultural runoff. After their talk, students from the Missouri School of Journalism’s “Price of Plenty [4]” project investigating the fertilizer industry will join the discussion alongside Kelly Wilson, PhD, Associate Director of MU’s Center for Regenerative Agriculture [5].
